Today as I was walking eastbound along Kingsway I noticed a shuttle bus at the intersection of Joyce and Kingsway, he was traveling northbound on Joyce. He was stopped at the red light but he was stopped over both lines of the crosswalk. The pedestrians had to walk behind the bus because it was too dangerous to walk in the front. Anyways the bus was NIS and there was another operator sitting behind him. This was around 2:45pm I guess they were coming from Oakridge. Anyways what I'm trying to say is I hope this guy wasn't being tested or anything because that was a huge fail on his part. Just thought I'd share..

Ah, I'm guessing that he didn't want to risk running a red light and decided to stop before the intersection, even if that meant stopping over the crosswalk. It has happened to me as well. Mistakes happen, but the way I see it, it's better to stop rather than run a red or yellow light. I believe (correct me if I'm wrong) running a yellow light on the road test is 10 demerits, whereas if you stop over the stop line or over the crosswalk, it's only 5 demerits. And of course, I would think running a red would mean you would fail.

Anyone coming out to Richmond??? We seem to be short drivers.

I would have loved to come to Richmond, but no that was never an option.

We actually got evenly divided amongst Burnaby, Vancouver and North Van.

If Richmond seems short, perhaps many are short at the moment. I heard from an Instructor that they are running 26 classes this year.

Maybe I'll come out at consolidated! :p I'm not actually sure where I'll end up lol. Actually kidding aside, Hamilton, Richmond or even Surrey would work if the rumors I'm hearing are true. It's a little far but I would like Richmond work.

On a related note, the op that relieved me twice tonight on a 26/27/28/29, was on his third day out of class. I guess the choices were Burnaby or North Van...

Two weeks done, and we are down from 10 to 9. We had two fail the road test and unfortately only one passed the retest.

We started trolleys on Friday and most in our class did well.

It was "Back to work" for me yesterday, after a fun 17 days off; some new faces in Richmond; Noticed a few Training Buses running around too, Richmond Training buses, NOT Vancouver buses. Could be employees returning to work after a along absence, or maybe new maintenance staff training too.

It was nice to NOT have to re route thru Queensborough for the first time in like 3 months! They are not finished yet by any means so I'm sure more reroutes to come as they fill in the ditches and rebuild Ewen Av.

Not much chatter about the contract negotiations; just more talks scheduled.

The union elections are coming up too, so there were a few guys campaigning for my vote already.

Drove an old 1998 low floor in the morning and a newer 2012 Artic for my second piece. The A/C was nice mid day!

The next time you are in a 7-Eleven: Check out their fresh baked cookies. the Cranberry White Chocolate are TO DIE FOR! 3 for the price of 2; and 6 for the price of 3!

I also noticed the posting for Conventional operator trainee came down today. I applied last saturday May 7th. I wonder when they will start sending the emails for those chosen to do the video test.

Hello everyone!! Day 4 down and so far it's goin well. I'm pretty comfortable with the driving part, just need to be more aware of school zones. My instructor who takes us out is awesome. Everyday is like a road test with him.
Today we were out in Maple Ridge. Tomorrow we are going to tour OTC and BTC. The only thing I'm really stressing about is the pre trip test. I know you guys doing the conventional have it wayyyy harder. At least today doing the pre trip I did a lot better than yesterday. The homework has been a pain in the ass tho. It's very frustrating doing it on a tablet. By the time I'm finished my homework, it's nearly time for bed. Getting used to waking up at 3am as well. Tuesday I have my road test so this weekend I'm going to study my ass off. All the instructors are super friendly and helpful. I don't want to screw this up, I really want this
Oh yeah, one of my classmates, he was in a previous conventional class. He told me he failed on the final eval for stopping on the railway tracks at 41st and west Boulevard. I think that it's awesome they gave him another opportunity with the shuttle.

Can someone tell me if Coast Mountain pays the BC medical service plan fee (family plan) for the employee?

Yes full medical and extended health benefits thru Pacific Blue Cross, for regular status employees that is.

Temporary employees get 14-21% more $$$ instead of benefits.

The training department must be busy! There were like 8 training artic's out in Ladner yesterday, my guess the extra summer staff for maintenance were getting their class #2's.
